Choosing the style for your home can seem overwhelming. These are a few interior design styles that are on-trend right now and what you need to know about them.

Trending Interior Design Styles

There are a lot of different styles to choose from. Such as contemporary, modern, modern farmhouse, French country, and more. This is what you need to know about some of these trending styles.

Contemporary and Modern

Although, they are used interchangeably contemporary and modern do have slight differences. Modern is from a 20th-century design movement. The modern style focused on simple form and function. It included a lot of natural elements like wood, leather, stone, and straight crisp lines. Contemporary on the other hand is what is happening today and now in design. Contemporary does borrow a little from a modern style which is why they can easily be compared. Since contemporary style means what is popular now in design it is always evolving. Today the elements of contemporary design are neutral pallets, simplicity or minimalist, and sophisticated.

Modern Farmhouse

If you have a Pinterest account, you’ll recognize the farmhouse style. The farmhouse style is rustic and charming. This style also uses neutral pallets with rustic natural elements like wood and metal as accents. Shiplap, barn doors, and black metal accents are the staple for modern farmhouse design. People love this style because of how cozy and inviting it feels.

French Country

French country is a timeless chic style. In a French country home, you can expect beautiful antique furniture and toile print. This style is so classic because it never goes out of style. It brings together pieces from the past and present to give that timeless feeling. Bold prints like toile and florals are often used as accents. It may also be referred to as shabby chic.

Luxury Custom Homes Built Through Collaborative Design
By Josie Fratantoni April 15, 2026
Building a luxury custom home requires more than strong ideas in separate phases. It requires architecture, interior design, and construction to work together from the beginning. In high end residential interior design, every decision affects another, which is why a more collaborative process often leads to a better final result. A ceiling detail can influence lighting. Cabinetry design can affect framing and electrical planning. Material selections can impact installation, timelines, and architectural detailing. When these disciplines are aligned early, the home feels more cohesive, more intentional, and more fully resolved. At Fratantoni, our in house teams at Fratantoni Design , Fratantoni Interior Designers, and Fratantoni Luxury Estates work together to create luxury homes that are thoughtfully developed from concept to completion.
Luxury Interior Design Should Start Before Construction
By Jessica Fratantoni April 7, 2026
Building a custom home is one of the most exciting opportunities a homeowner can experience. It is a chance to create a residence that reflects your lifestyle, aesthetic, and long term vision in a way that feels deeply personal. For luxury homeowners, that process should be intentional from the very beginning. Every room, finish, architectural detail, and functional feature should work together to create a home that feels cohesive, elevated, and entirely custom. One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make when building a new home is waiting too long to involve an interior designer. Many people assume interior design begins after the floor plan is complete or once construction has already started. In reality, the most successful luxury homes begin with interior design much earlier in the process.
