This article will discuss the popular interior design trend in 2020, two-toned kitchen cabinets.

Two-Tone Kitchen Cabinets

The kitchen is not only the heart of your home it is also the most used space in the home. If you’re going to be spending most of your time in your kitchen, why not make it beautiful. One interior design trend we loved this year is two-toned kitchen cabinets. We don’t see this style of cabinets going away so here are some tips on how to successfully execute this trend.

What Are Two-Toned Kitchen Cabinets?

Before this year we were used to seeing the same color or stain across all of the cabinets in the kitchen. The two-toned cabinet trend combines two complementary cabinet colors for more contrast in the kitchen. Typically, you’ll see a darker shade for the bottom cabinets and a lighter shade for the top.

Select the Colors

Choosing the colors for your cabinets can be tricky. One interior design tip would be to use complementary colors, neutrals, or darker shades of the same color. You can paint the lower cabinets a darker shade of blue and the top a lighter color for contrast.

Use Contrasting Materials

Instead of choosing two colors for your cabinets, you can instead use contrasting materials. For example, you can use complementary wood to contrast your kitchen cabinets. The kitchen island is a good focal point use as the contrasting material.

Balance with Neutrals

White or neutral color tones will help with balancing the two-color tones in your kitchen. Using white or any neutral color will break up the color and make the transition more visually appealing.
