Theaters and Game Rooms

Let’s talk in-home theaters and game rooms! If you love going to the movie theater, grabbing some popcorn, your favorite candy, and laying back in a recliner, you could have the same luxury right at home! Whether you are in the beginning stages of designing your home, or a renovation project, it is never too late to add a little piece of luxury! At Fratantoni Interior Designers, one trend that we see is clients wanting to add theaters and game rooms. Or, the combination of two being a media room!

In-Home Theaters and Game Rooms

One advantage of home media rooms is the convenience and savings that come along with them. Popcorn? A popcorn machine in the corner of the room! Candy? A mini bar with snacks and a refrigerator with drinks. Whether you add your favorite couch or rows of recliners, you can pick your favorite seat, and choose your spot without someone beating you to it! We cannot forget to mention, you can choose the movie!

Additionally, another advantage is the entertainment aspect. The combination of in-home theaters and game rooms are often called media rooms or entertainment rooms. We have seen billiards, foosball, and pool tables incorporated into media rooms. This room is perfect for friends and family, to beat the heat (or the cold!) and provides a separate space for indoor entertainment. As seen below, additional features can include a bar area, second kitchen, trophy room/storage, and a surround sound system to enhance the room.

Building a luxury custom home requires more than strong ideas in separate phases. It requires architecture, interior design, and construction to work together from the beginning. In high end residential design, every decision affects another, which is why a more collaborative process often leads to a better final result. A ceiling detail can influence lighting. Cabinetry design can affect framing and electrical planning. Material selections can impact installation, timelines, and architectural detailing. When these disciplines are aligned early, the home feels more cohesive, more intentional, and more fully resolved. At Fratantoni, our in house teams at Fratantoni Design, Fratantoni Interior Designers, and Fratantoni Luxury Estates work together to create luxury homes that are thoughtfully developed from concept to completion.

Building a custom home is one of the most exciting opportunities a homeowner can experience. It is a chance to create a residence that reflects your lifestyle, aesthetic, and long term vision in a way that feels deeply personal. For luxury homeowners, that process should be intentional from the very beginning. Every room, finish, architectural detail, and functional feature should work together to create a home that feels cohesive, elevated, and entirely custom. One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make when building a new home is waiting too long to involve an interior designer. Many people assume interior design begins after the floor plan is complete or once construction has already started. In reality, the most successful luxury homes begin with interior design much earlier in the process.
