Choosing a Color Palette for your Home

Choosing the perfect color palette for your home can seem daunting. When your starting to decorate your home and need to choose a color palette there are some important tips to go by. Check out this article to learn more about how to successfully choose a color palette for your home.

Use a color wheel

Beginning with a color wheel will help to choose the primary and secondary colors. The color wheel will help to build the color scheme of a house. When choosing a color scheme, the most popular that you will see is monochromatic and analogous. Monochromatic will be when you use different tones of the same color. Analogous would be choosing colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel like blue and green.

Largest and Most Centrally Located Spaces

A great place to start is in a large and centrally located space. This would typically be the kitchen or the living room. These are also probably going to be the spaces you spend most of your time in. The color scheme from this space can be drawn from in adjacent rooms and throughout the house.

Build a Palette with the Same Shades

Now that you have chosen a color scheme for your largest or most centrally located space you can pull from that color scheme. If you’ve chosen a blue accent in your living room, you can build your palette with different shades of blue. This would be an example of a monochromatic color scheme. The monochromatic color scheme is great for homeowners who have an open floor plan. The transition between each space will be seamless.
