Monochromatic Spaces used in Interior Design

Monochromatic spaces used in interior design started out as a trend and now is evolving into something more.  One of the most impressive ways to make an impression through architecture and design is to intentionally create a monochromatic space. Thus being an area that shines with a singular color palette and traditionally lots of scale and texture variation for depth and maximum visual effect. At Fratantoni Interior Designers, we love the challenge of creating a luxurious, monochromatic space. One of our favorite colors to implement in this style is white – there are lots of variations in shade and finishes, which allows our expert interior designers to evoke different feelings through their designs.

An example of a monochromatic estate is the Modern Luxury Style  home by our in-house interior designers. Featuring a large monochromatic white and gold floor plan, the Modern Luxury Style home has a floating ceiling bringing depth and texture to the room that compliments the singular color palette. As well as marble countertops and gold details to give a shimmer to the eye.

At Fratantoni Interior Designers, our custom luxury interior designers can create any style of home. From simply elegant, to intricately detailed, our highly skilled and fully staffed interior design team can do it all! However, we want to showcase in this blog modern homes that have a monochromatic aesthetic. Another Fratantoni-designed home is the Formal Mediterranean estate. Pictured below, is a sky-high custom coffered ceiling over the stunning grand double staircase. The chandelier fixture perfectly complements the design style and beautifully showcase the designers’ work.

An all-white kitchen in the Formal Mediterranean gives an impression of cleanliness. While going through the interior design process, many people prefer the light, bright, airy feel that it gives. The luxury kitchen is featuring carrera white marble countertops, double islands, white kitchen cabinetry, and white marble flooring. Implementing a monochromatic palette also allows for pops of color here and there for eye-catching pieces to break up the space.

Furthermore, another color we love to create monochromatic spaces in is black! A well-done black coffered ceiling is one of our favorite things. A combination of a black marble floor and countertops can make a black ceiling truly stand out and can have the overall effect of making a space look incredibly regal. Black is understated and oftentimes, underused in its fullest capacity. Utilizing black is an option outside the box for most people’s thinking and our expert luxury interior designers thrive on creating unique designs for our clients. But your options don’t stop there! We can truly utilize any color and make a design based around it in every chroma. Whether you are located in New Jersey, California, Arizona or anywhere between, our custom luxury interior designers are ready to design your dream home! Building a luxury custom home requires more than strong ideas in separate phases. It requires architecture, interior design, and construction to work together from the beginning. In high end residential interior design, every decision affects another, which is why a more collaborative process often leads to a better final result. A ceiling detail can influence lighting. Cabinetry design can affect framing and electrical planning. Material selections can impact installation, timelines, and architectural detailing. When these disciplines are aligned early, the home feels more cohesive, more intentional, and more fully resolved. At Fratantoni, our in house teams at Fratantoni Design , Fratantoni Interior Designers, and Fratantoni Luxury Estates work together to create luxury homes that are thoughtfully developed from concept to completion.

Building a custom home is one of the most exciting opportunities a homeowner can experience. It is a chance to create a residence that reflects your lifestyle, aesthetic, and long term vision in a way that feels deeply personal. For luxury homeowners, that process should be intentional from the very beginning. Every room, finish, architectural detail, and functional feature should work together to create a home that feels cohesive, elevated, and entirely custom. One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make when building a new home is waiting too long to involve an interior designer. Many people assume interior design begins after the floor plan is complete or once construction has already started. In reality, the most successful luxury homes begin with interior design much earlier in the process.
